A big PPV card means some big UFC salaries, or at least that’s the fallout from UFC 187 on the pay scale end of things. Fighters took home a combined $2.45 million, with Chris Weidman and, surprisingly, Anthony Johnson leading the way with half a million in reported salary each. By comparison, Daniel Cormier’s reported base pay was just $180,000, just over half as much as Vitor Belfort made in a loss. That may be because Johnson was able to negotiate a special deal to fight Cormier on short notice, or maybe he earned more in lieu of PPV points, or maybe the UFC just thinks Johnson is worth big money to them. Either way it’s a great time to point out the usual disclaimer:
Disclaimer: These numbers, as reported by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NAC) do not include any sort of taxes, locker room bonuses, PPV points, sponsorship payments, or cuts that managers or coaches might take from the fighters salary. This are just the basic numbers the UFC reports to the NAC, the checks they are guaranteed to be cutting for the fighters before all those other factors come into play. Keep that in mind. These figures don’t represent the whole picture, just the parts we know for sure.
