Alongside the UFC’s big PPV this last week, the PFL got back to action with their 2023 regular season. The PFL 4 card saw one massive upset on the night as former (brief) UFC talent Jesus Pinedo knocked out 2022 featherweight million-dollar winner Brendan Loughnane in the main event. That loss accounted for the first stoppage defeat of any kind in Loughnane’s 13-year MMA career and means the Englishman will miss out on this year’s playoff tournament.
Results and standings aside, however, because the event took place in the state of Georgia, fans get another increasingly rare glimpse at fighter purses for one of the sports’ top organizations. With the event now done and dusted, it looks like Bubba Jenkins and Movlid Khaybulaev took home the night’s top salaries.
Bubba Jenkins & Movlid Khaybulaev net $100k at PFL 4
There weren’t any shocking numbers coming out of this week’s PFL card (as reported by MMA Fighting), but as a previous season winner, it’s no surprise that Movlid Khaybulaev would bank one of the highest paydays for the card. Khaybulaev picked up the 2021 crown in his first ever season with the PFL, beating Lance Palmer, Brendan Loughnane, and Chris Wade along the way. Unfortunately the Dagestani was forced to sit out the 2022 season due to injury but appears to be in top form this year.
A former NCAA DI champion, Bubba Jenkins has yet to grab any major awards in his MMA career. Once a Bellator mainstay, Jenkins left the promotion in 2016 off a loss to Georgi Karakhanyan. He joined the PFL just under five years later, making it to the semi-finals in 2021 and the finals in 2022, where he lost to Loughnane. With their victories on Thursday, Khaybulaev and Jenkins both look to have secured their spot in the tournament rounds.
